Manitoba Wedding Photographers + Elkhorn

You might remember Beckie & Darryl from their Connection session we did out in Vegas earlier this year.  Well, Saturday was their big day and I was on the road just after 6 am to start the 3.5 hour journey to Elkhorn, MB.
I have been looking forward to this one for a couple of reasons – the drive out to a small town I have never been and the fact that these two are just great people to hang out with.

I really enjoyed my time out in Vegas with them and we got some wicked photos so I knew that their wedding day would be no different.  They went all out to find great locations around their town – that I would like to shoot at… Gotta love that!  We had their first meet on an old stone bridge, visited two sites with stone ruins (where I had a grasshopper climb up my pants without me knowing and I could not get the bugger out) , a beautiful old barn in the middle of nowhere and even some old car wrecks close to town.  I loved them all and Beckie looked amazing!

They put a lot of work into decorating the hall for the reception.  Beautiful lighting, draped linen and a stunning cake added to the laughter to create the perfect atmosphere for a wedding celebration.

It was crazy hot though… WOW!  I think last weekend was the hottest I have ever been in Canada and it got close to my home city weather back in South Africa. Sweat dripping hot…

Congratulations to you both for such a beautiful wedding.  I am sure you guys will have many great stories to tell your kids one day and your wedding will be a popular one.  I hope you enjoy your honeymoon and I look forward to your comments when you get back!

A special word of thanks to the people of Elkhorn who made me feel right at home and also to the ghost that stayed away at the Inn I spent the night at… YIKES!

Steinbach Wedding Photographers + Southland

It was another scorcher and just the beginning of my heatwave weekend of weddings…

Esther and I headed out to Steinbach to spend the day of celebrations with Naomi & Brad.

We spent the morning getting ready, had the first meet at one of the most spectacular houses I have ever seen. I took some photos to show Leah, but decided not to in fear that she might want one… LOL!

One of the highlights from the day was when Brad discovered two Viking tickets in Naomi’s garter.  She had been looking forward to surprising him with them and I’m sure he did not know what was going on.  It was kinda funny to see him struggle between being excited about the wedding and the tradition he had just performed and the tickets!  Well played Naomi : )

Congratulations to you Naomi and Brad! May your life’s journey be filled with many happy adventures and great stories to tell.

Brad & Naomi - Hey Bond,
Brad and I just got back from our honeymoon and ran to our computer to watch! You amaze us! Thank you so much! We have heard many horror stories about wedding photographers so we were very nervous about who we would ask to do our wedding. From our first conversation you set our minds at ease. We felt like we were talking to an old friend. You captured exactly what we wanted and you went beyond what we could ever imagine. I got my fairy tale wedding and your pictures tell the story. You have blessed up Bond, thank you! We will definitely be in contact when our advententure continues with an addition to our family. God Bless You, Leah, and baby Zuri!
Love,
Brad & Naomi Murray

Winnipeg Wedding Photographer + Post Wedding Shoot

I met up with Cheree and Jeff last week to do a post wedding shoot.  They got married last year and felt they wanted more modern photos of them as they did not have a wide variety to choose from the proofs their wedding photographer gave them.

Jeff is a pro hockey player in the States and that is where this Steinbach couple now refer to as home.  It’s the off season for Jeff now and with them visiting family back in Manitoba – I was all to happy and honoured to be asked to do this shoot for them.  They are two wonderful people and look so in love and comfortable with each other – it was fun doing this with them.

We started off in the exchange and ended the shoot out by Fort Gibraltar with the wicked Mustang they travelled in.  Perfect weather, trusting couple, beautiful couple, great photos…

I love the light we had during your shoot and think we got some great photos.  I hope you guys enjoy your teazer and look forward to reading your comments.

Wedding Photographer Winnipeg + Pine Ridge Hollow

We had a great time out with Breccan & Richard on our first Monday wedding of the year!  I must admit I am surprised that there are so few weddings during the week here in Winnipeg.  We sure had a great time as there was not much traffic or craziness going around in the city  - it felt like we had all of downtown to ourselves.  It was only once we got to the beach in Birds Hill Park that I realized the city was so quiet because EVERYONE was at the beach…

We did Breccan and Richard’s first meet in the exchange district, walked around for a bit, caught a tan and then headed to Birds Hill Park to tan some more…  It was beautifully hot!

Esther and I agree that Breccan can be counted as one of the most beautiful brides from this year and her dress was just wicked.  I really enjoyed our time out at the beach and in the fields at Birds Hill as it reminded me of South Africa – beautiful.

Breccan, I want to thank you guys for having us be a part of your day and want to congratulate you on a beautiful wedding.  I enjoyed the “band” during the ceremony and it’s a pity we missed the drumming you had planned for much later.  I am sure it all went down as planned and you guys had a great time.

I hope you enjoy your teazer and look forward to your comments!

Winnipeg Wedding Photography + Romantic Engagement Photos

I met Aynsley’s mom a while back at Kristalee and Brock’s wedding and she asked me if I did out of town weddings as her daughter would be getting married in Edmonton.  I stated that I did and would love to do a wedding out there, but as time went by and we got in contact again it turned out I was already booked for the date that they had set.  To make a long story short, Aynsley still wanted to do some photos with me and we got together last Sunday here in Manitoba to do a Connection session for her and Andrew.

Well, I should say we got together after mad rushing as my car died on the way to the shoot and we had to get Esther’s husband to bring us her car so we could speed and try to make it to the meeting point in time… Crazy! Thanks Brock…

We were hoping to do a nice and golden sunset shoot, but the weather did not play along to those plans – it did however give us clouds and rain that took the shoot in another direction.  This is what I love about my profession!  Two people in love will always remain the core focus point and everything else surrounding that just shapes the framing of it.

I so wish I could do the wedding for them, but maybe we will still get together for one of my post wedding Modern Shoots.

Thanks for coming out to Manitoba guys – it was a pleasure getting to know you both!  Man those mosquitoes were killer towards the end hey?  Luckily my South African mozzie repellent did the job of not letting them bite us  - I wish it could help prevent breathing them as well!!

I hope you enjoy your teazer and look forward to your comments.
